We are delighted to announce Lena Spieth and Matthias Münchhalfen as the recipients of the TRR 274 Postdoctoral Research Awards 2026.
Each award provides €10,000 in research funding in recognition of outstanding scientific achievements and to support future research.
Lena Spieth is honoured for her outstanding contributions to multiple sclerosis research, particularly the characterization of pathogenic inflammatory niches in chronic active MS lesions using single-cell spatial transcriptomics.
Within TRR 274, Lena works in collaboration with our PI Stefan Berghoff, project leader of A06, and Mika Simons, co-speaker and project leader of A06, as well as B01 and Z02.
Matthias Münchhalfen is honoured for his outstanding contributions to B-cell immunology and our understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing germinal center fate decisions.
Matthias works in collaboration with Jürgen Wienands, project leader of A08.
Congratulations to both awardees on this well-deserved recognition! We wish them continued success in their research careers.
